Port Everglades
Located in Broward County, FL, Port Everglades is one of the US’s largest container ports with in excess of 5,200 ships at call in a year, a major petroleum storage and distribution hub, and a US Navy liberty port. It is also one of the world’s busiest cruise departure ports – holding the world record for most cruise passengers in a single day (49,234 passengers on January 3rd, 2009) with 4 million annually departing through the port. Cruise ships from Carnival to Celebrity, Discovery to Princess, Royal Caribbean to Holland America – most of the cruise ship companies operating in the world today operate out of Port Everglades. With all of this activity with international destinations or origins, Port Everglades security is an extremely important part of our national security.
The Port Everglades project consisted of providing and installing 202 cameras both fixed and PTZ. All cameras were analog and converted to IP. Hypower constructed and installed all the conduit, fiber, NEMA enclosures, network switches, poles, and electrical. Included in the project were all the network servers for the camera system, the access system and the intercom system. The camera system was an IP based system and Hypower constructed the network throughout the Port. Testing was completed under the direction of the design engineer and the system exceeded the requirements of the specifications. 17 miles of underground conduit were installed along with 176,000 feet of fiber optic cable including all terminations and testing.
